Music/Life Story/About:

Born and raised on the Hamilton Place block in Northern Harlem, commonly referred to as "the top of the Hill", "Hungry Ham" or in the past, it had been called "Sugar Hill". Generally in this area, residents tend to keep it local and stay within its boundaries.

At a young age, ASAP Ferg began creating pieces of art in the basement of his friends house, where they would work along side through the hours of the night. He also thrived at designing Jewelry, later followed by accessories, belts, other miscellaneous items as well as launching as his own original clothing lines (which he began designing at age 7). Devoni Clothing was created in 2005, selling his high-end merchandise to big names like Diggy Simmons, Swizz beatz, Chris Brown and more.

It was in Harlem, growing up where Ferg's father Donald Ferguson Sr. operated and owned a specialty fashion shop called "Ferg and Power" between Lennox and 7th, where his father would provide services for a large number of old school hip hop icons and record labels such as: Bill Bel DeVoe, Teddy Riley, Heavy D, P Diddy, Bad Boy, D Block, Ruff Ryders and many others. Artists would order logo'd clothing, where Darold and his father would create designs and manually print them on clothing items, front and back.

Coming up in Harlem, Ferg had been through an immense amount of tribulations, emotional triumphs and feats. There were incidences where he had ducked bullets at a neighbourhood basketball game, and then went to a fashion show right after. Experiencing both financial highs and lows as well as having his father passing away from kidney failure, Ferg has absorbed these experiences and believes it has built his character.

Around the age of 20, Darold had been battling depression and strived to complete his education, however it hadn't been working out for him and had eventually dropped out of school twice. While attending college, Ferg enrolled in Marketing Management and he also studied studio art.

Childhood companion A$AP Rocky, later motivated ASAP Ferg to turn to the music industry. Although, music is one of many expressive art forms that Ferg is inspired by, he has made it his goal to expand in various fields of artistry and will only continue in the music industry as long as it is fun for him.

Ferg has come to secure his very own particular corner in the rap industry, combining an experiemental trill style with deep and dark basslines, oftenly throwing some elements of trap and unprecedented flows.

In comparison to his voice in real life to his flow on some tracks, Fergs voice is considerably deeper and is not as squeeky as he can alter it to be. Although his deep tone has become is standard choice for most songs, he is also capable to hit notes that are maybe not considered singing, but he can definitely please the crowds ears.

In early 2013 Darold went on to sign a record deal with RCA Polo Grounds Music for a $1.3 million contract. Soon after the agreement was reached, the all-star remix of "Work" featuring Trinidad James, French Montana and School Boy Q was released. Although the original of "Work" was first featured on A$AP MOB'S "Lords Never Worry" on August 28th 2012, this Remix has been credited to have positioned A$AP Ferg on a higher plateau on the global market.

Following this deal, Ferg dropped his unforgettable debut album, "Trap Lord" on June, 2, 2013. Upon releasing “Trap Lord”, the album had reached # 09 on the Billboard 200 and qualified as # 02 on the US Rap charts.

It is because of ASAP Ferg's ability to excell in multiple hustles and traps, and being very talented at each one, where he was given the Alias, "Trap Lord" by the late A$AP Yams.

Interesting Facts:

Both ASAP Ferg and Rocky fused the ASAP MOB collective, where the signature "A$AP" came to life.

Ferg became passionate about the life story of Selena after he researched her rise to stardom, inspired by her triumphant ascent into fame, from the bottom to the top. On the song, "100 Million Roses" Darold provides a deep reflection of life and death and dedicated the song to Selena, his father and all of his fallen loved ones.

"She's had such an inspiring story. I dedicated '100 Million Roses' to her and my dad. I wonder how people would look at my life when I die, and that's what the verse is about. How would people feel? I know I'd want a 100 million roses."  - ASAP Ferg

Quotes by A$AP Ferg:

-"Trapping means hustling,"

-"I went from painting to making clothes to rapping. I always put myself into everything I do one hundred percent. It doesn't matter what I'm working on. I want to perfect everything I do. Success is the only option. They call me ‘Trap Lord’ because my hustle game is impeccable."

-It all start with change. You want to see a change, you got to start changing yourself, then changing people around you. And the next thing you know you got a whole community that's fighting for that change.

-"Rocky is a major reason I'm rapping, He believes in me and really challenges me. We look up to each other, and I consider him a brother."

-"I hope people take the good and the bad from what I've got to say,"

-"With 'Dope Walk' I wanted to bring back kids dancing and having fun again. That's how it used to be in Harlem. I remember everybody Harlem-shaking and 'Chicken Noodle Soup'-ing. Those were some of the most fun and memorable times in my life."

-"Way before I was rapping, I was looking at Missy videos and loving her music.”

-"My father was a designer, and I grew up watching him. I always drew stuff, and drew clothes. I finally started making clothes when I was around 11, 12."

-“That’s what it is about this culture of the Internet. Is everything is merged. There’s no racism with the Internet. Racism only was - is probably like five generations ago, Racism been over. It’s the old people that keep on holding on to it. We don’t hold on to that shit. We don’t know racism. We all like having - like my brother had white - my little brother had white girlfriends. And that’s regular.”

-"It's something about New York that - I love the urgency that we have out here."
